Themes - Culture

The rich culture of China that dates back several thousand years is for many people, the Chinese included, what characterizes China the most. The Chinese cultural history has been formed through the dynastic period with emperors and concubines, many great wars and also a Great Wall. Inventions like paper, printing, gunpowder, the compass, tea, silk, and of course porcelain – or as some call it, china, have also shaped the development of China and the trade and relations to the rest of the world.

A big part of the Chinese culture and identity also lies within the special Chinese “philosophies”, religion and traditions like Confucianism, Legalism, Daoism and Buddhism, which have formed the Chinese way of thinking and still play a major role in the identity of the Chinese people today.

A working group on culture is under consideration but has not been formalised yet. For more information please contact Casper Wichmann.
